Detail
The year 2016 is the byeongsin year of the monkey. Among the five colors representing the Five Elements, byeong and jeong signify red. For that reason, babies born in 2016 will have the red monkey zodiac sign. Monkeys are more similar to humans than any other animal. They are gregarious and form sophisticated social structures. There is a distinct hierarchy among the males, and the strongest male in the group, determined by fighting, is the leader. The leaders role is to mediate disputes within his group, protect the group from attack by other groups, and take charge of the group. Once a leader becomes weak and is no longer able to defend himself, he will be not only ousted from his position by a stronger male but also ostracized from the group. Female monkeys, on the other hand, exhibit a stronger maternal instinct to the extent that they throw themselves into danger to protect their young. Snuggling and hair-pulling are among the mannerisms that monkey use to commune with one another. Hair-pulling, which is actually a way of consuming sodium on anothers body, is only observed between close monkeys and is often their way of expressing intimacy. It is also a way to express ones intent to submit after losing a fight to another. Monkeys are often called jannabi in Korean. This term is said to have come from jaen nabi, which is the Korean word jaeda meaning quick in action and the native term nab for monkey`. The ninth creature of the Zodiac, the monkey is considered a smart and nimble animal. The Koreans long ago believed that those born in the year of the monkey were intelligent and had many talents. They are generally optimistic and active. Because they tend to be extraverted, they usually regard the group as more important than the individual. The newly issued New Years Greetings stamp portrays the talented and upbeat monkey in a humorous way. How about sending holiday cards this season with a New Years Greetings stamp featuring a monkey that will deliver positive energy and happiness to your loved ones?
