` As one of plant series issued on the 15th of each month, the Forsythia Koreana, scientific name of golden ball tree, is selected for the month of March. The Forsythia indigenous to Korea displays the impressive figure cute enough embroidering the bright early spring time with rich golden color at garden and roadside. This flower is much more popular than plum, the last selection, and are largely used for cutting which creates an refreshing, vivid air in indoor place amidst the depressed last winter season. With its strong propagation power and heavy bushes, it is also widely used as hedges. Belonging to Olwaceae Family, it has elliptical leaves with jagged edge which sprout face to face. The flowers, separated male from female, bloom in golden color at the arm of leaves on the stems in early spring before leaves sprout. The shape of flower resembles to a bell, and forms four folks at the edge with two stamens and shorter pistil. The capsulated and egg-shaped fruit can be served for medical use and ripens in October. The Forsythia is distributed in all over the country and its geographical distribution is also China and Japan but that of these countries are varieties of the Forsythia Koreana.`
