Detail
`The history of Korean telecommunication service traces its beginning to the time of 22nd year of King Kojong (A.D. 1885) when a wire telegraph service was inaugurated between Seoul and Inchon, making the 80th anniversary this year.
The telecommunication service has been developed to be the most convenient and speedy means of public communication today. Its essentiality with its speed and accuracy in our day today life development of human culture can never be over emphasized.
The telecommunication in Korea at the early stage was quite inefficient in that it had to depend on the wire telegraph facilities alone. However, in a series of development during the past 80 years such convenient communication means as wire or wireless telephone, telegraph, and international telex have been made available for disposal of our daily life requirment. The Ministry of Communications, nevertheless, recognizes a large room for further improvement and development and it is exerting all efforts to realize better and convenient telecommunication as well as postal communication service in near future.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of telecommunication service in Korea, the Ministry assures the public of its continued efforts for further development of the service and issues commemorative stamps of two denominations.`
