Detail
`Chrysanthemum of Ulreungdo (Island) has been chosen for the October issue of the plant series.
It enhances one`s sentimental attachment for the flourishing past summer days by blooming its tiny flower all alone on lonely hillsides of the seashore in autumn while, on the island, various kinds of gorgeous chrysanthemum embellish the season by blooming beautifully in the greenhouses in October.
If all the affairs were to end in sadness, perhaps it is because of its sentiment of regret as the last flower to bloom during the year that it attracts one`s emotion all the more at the end of long summer season. This flower is especially well known in that it grows only on the lonely Island of Ulreung, Kyungsang Pukto, blooming and fading quietly on the seaside without any one to come by.
It is a perennial plant which belongs to Carduus Crispus and grows as high as about 30cm in height with the red purple stem. The leaves grow alternately with caulines which are split into many directions. The leaves have pointed ends. The flowers are bloomed in pink, on stem or branch-ends, during the period from September to October.
It is a special product of Ulreung Island, Kyungsang Pukto, Korea, and belongs to a wild plant.`
