Detail
`According to the renovation of the postal rate. Ministry of Communications issues new regular stamps of two denominations which will be used for ordinary domestic mail starting with the 1st January 1966. They are 7 Won and 60 Chun stamps. The design of 7 Won stamp depicts more savings and the development of agriculture, industry and the marine products industry which are the actualities of our whole nation`s efforts for the self-supporting economy. The novel design was selected by the reason that we must attend to our producing capacity with diligence and to encourage the habit of saving in order to live in plenty. Callipogon Relictus Semenov, academic name of long-horned beetle, which is one of natural monuments of the country was selected for the 60 Chun stamp. This insect belongs to Prioninae Family and stature of the male is 110 mm and that of the female is 66-90 mm. The first one of the country was caught in 1934 by Professor Joe Bok Seung at Mount Bukhan, northern part of Seoul, and reported firstly in our country. It was found also in Kyungi and Kangwon Province afterwards. This insect has a pair of long feelers and great dents look like scissors. Its head is covered with many short yellow downs except the top and the breast is lustreless. The long-horned beetle inhabits in Korea and Manchuria. It is the greatest one of Prioninae Family and it has been a very rare insect which may exterminate because of its great body.`
